Yoga isn't just about striking a pose or breaking a sweat—it's a holistic practice that can profoundly impact your life. Physically, yoga offers a unique blend of strength, flexibility, and balance, but it's more than just a workout. It's a journey inward, a practice of self-discovery and enables you to create a deeper connection with yourself.
Beyond the physical benefits, yoga is a powerful tool for mental well-being. In today's fast-paced world, finding moments of calm can feel like a rare luxury. Yet, on the yoga mat, amidst the flow of movement and breath, you can find a sanctuary for your mind. Through mindfulness practices and relaxation techniques, yoga helps to quiet the chatter of the mind, reduce stress, and anxiety. It's a space to let go of the worries of the day and simply be present in the moment.
Emotionally, yoga offers a pathway to greater balance and resilience. Life can be unpredictable, and yoga teaches us to navigate its ups and downs with grace. By tuning into our breath and connecting with our bodies, we learn to ride the waves of emotion with greater ease. We discover that we have the strength and resilience to face whatever challenges come our way, both on and off the mat.
Moreover, yoga is about connection—both with ourselves and with others. It's a space where we can come together, support one another, and celebrate each other's journeys. In a world that often feels disconnected, yoga reminds us of our capacity for compassion and connection giving us a sense of belonging.
Find strength, peace, and joy both on and off the mat and discover the transformative power of yoga with us at MS Yoga Movements.

Types of Yoga for MS
Several styles of yoga are beneficial to individuals with MS. These include:
Restorative Yoga
Restorative yoga is a gentle style of yoga that focuses on deep stretching and relaxation. Props such as bolsters, blankets and blocks are used to support the body in passive poses held for an extended period, ranging from 5-20 minutes.
These supportive poses allow the muscles to fully relax, releasing tension and promoting a deep sense of rest and rejuvenation. This practice is particularly beneficial for reducing stress, promoting relaxation, and supporting the body's natural healing process, making it ideal for individuals with limited mobility or chronic illnesses.
Chair Yoga
Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that adapts traditional yoga poses to be performed while seated on a chair or using a chair for support. This accessible style of yoga offers modifications and variations of poses to accommodate individuals with chronic illnesses, limited mobility and balance issues. By utilizing the support of a chair, it enables you to safely explore a range of movements to improve flexibility, strength, and posture, while promoting stress and relaxation.
Chair yoga empowers individuals to experience the benefits of a yoga practice in a comfortable and accessible way, fostering a sense of well-being in both the body and mind.

Mara Fowler
Hi, I'm Mara, and I've been living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for over two decades. My journey started with early symptoms that I didn't fully recognize until later in life, including learning differences and physical challenges. Despite facing setbacks and misdiagnoses, I've kept pushing forward.
Now, I'm on a mission to share what I've learned and provide support to others through MS Yoga Movements. It's a space where those with chronic illnesses can find understanding, and community, and learn how yoga and mindfulness can help navigate life and improve their well-being.
